As Jesus prayed in the Garden of Gethsemane, He asked the Father three times if there was any other way forward. “O my Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me: nevertheless not as I will, but as thou wilt” (Matthew 26:39). Jesus learned there was no way around, so with faith and courage he went through. Despite the crushing weight of that night, Jesus Christ chose to follow the Father.
We will also face times where it seems the weight of the world is on our shoulders. We have our own trials, our own long nights, where we may join with Jesus and ask for any other possible way. But a wise Father knows that some things must be experienced. Some lessons can only happen by going through, and so He offers us our own moments in Gethsemane. However, there in the garden, we are not alone, for if we seek Him, Jesus meets us there. Though it may be terrible, tragic, or incredibly hard to bear, Jesus knows. Sometimes there is no other way to really know Him, than to find Him in the garden.
